KEHEN TEMPLE
It is an ancient temple in which located three copper inscriptions, considered sacred by the temple adherents of the neighborhood settlements.

Location
It is located on the southern foot of Bangli Hill on the North East of the town of Bangli, marvelously architectured with staired entrance. It is about 1,5 km from downtown of Bangli or 45 minutes drive from Teba Ubud Guest House. It can easily be reached by motor vehicle since the road is quite fine.

History
The first copper inscription of the three is assumed to be derived from the ninth century in which described the name : “Hyang Api, Hyang Kariman, Hyang Tanda” and some Budhist priest names.

The second inscription describes “Sang Senopati Kuturan” while the third describes : “Hyang Kehen” who reigned in 1204 known with other name : “Bhetara Guru Sri Adikunti Ketana“.

Viewing the data, a conclusions can be taken that “Hyang Api” (‘api‘ means fire) in the first inscription was changed in to “Hyang Kehen” in the third inscription whereas the word “Kehen“ means ”Stove” or “Fireplace”. So that, the conclusion taken, that the temple had been built in the ninth century and kept being the King’s concern.

Ubud Clean & Green

Ubud clean and green

Ubud as a tourist destination in Bali has well known reputation. The Ubud’s people are friendly and always welcome the tourist to visit their village. The Bali culture especially Ubud is one of the most unique and exotic in the world, it can be seen by the villagers activities in their daily live while doing the ritual ceremony.  Ubud also known as the center of the art, many world class artists has found their inspiration here in Ubud; Museum, gallery, art shops easily could be found. Don’t forget the Ubud landscape and environment; most of the landscapes consist of the rice field with their famous irrigation system which called “Subak”. The subak system as a manifestation of the Tri Hita Karana Philosophy and one of the UNESCO World Heritage.  That’s why we need to keep this good reputation to attract more tourist interest in visiting our lovely village of Ubud.

One of the Big problems for Bali Tourism as we know is the problem of Rubbish / Garbage / Waste (sampah). The problem could be found in everywhere, dirty environment, plastic waste that cannot be weathered for years, flood in the rainy season and we have to do something about this before it’s getting worse and to keep Ubud Clean & Green as one of the famous Tourist Destination in Bali.

The garbage/waste in Bali consist of two types, those are:

1)      Organic Garbage is: waste that can be weathered (decomposition) and the material breaks down into smaller and does not smell (often referred to as compost). Compost is the result of weathering of organic materials such as leaves, straw, weeds, litter, grass, and other similar materials which’s the weathering process accelerated by human intervention. Compost has benefits for environment and it helps plants to growth and green the world.

2)      Un-Organic Garbage is:  waste materials, generated from non-living, either the sinterik product or the results of the mineral technology process. Inorganic waste is waste generated from non-biological materials and cannot be broken down by nature, for example: plastic bottles, plastic bags, cans. Un-Organic Garbage can be managed and reused as recycle product that has benefits in human being life.

Good management in managing garbage / rubbish / waste is needed to keep Ubud green and clean from rubbish. As one of the well known tourist destination in Bali. Let us protect ubud from rubbish by supporting Government’s Program in creating “Bali Clean & Green”. Simple things to do like, threw the rubbish in the waste bin, remember between the organic & unorganic waste so throw in the right waste bin. Reduce in using plastic bag at least it could help to clean our earth. By maintaining the cleanliness and green of our environment so the Bali Philosopy “Tri Hita Karana” the good relation between human and their environment could be achieved.
